We are currently seeking a dynamic and results-focused Human Resources Manager to become an integral part of our team.
Job Description:
The Human Resources Manager is responsible, in collaboration with the Executive Director, for planning, implementing, and managing human resources initiatives, activities and practices that support Scandinave Spa’s goals and business objectives as well as comply with relevant legislation. The role requires a hands-on individual, with experience in all areas of HR, including talent acquisition, policies and procedure development and implementation, employee relations, performance management, group benefits and group RRSP management, as well as intricate involvement with the Health & Safety Committee.
Job Duties / Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Executive Director to develop and execute the HR strategies that support the company’s goals and objectives.
- Support key initiatives of the company through development and implementation of policies, procedures, and practices.
- Manage the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, employment contracts, on-boarding, and periodic “check-in” meetings with new employees.
- Coach and develop department managers on complex employee related matters including performance management, investigations, and progressive corrective action.
- Oversee the performance review process for all employees, ensuring it is in-line with company practices, working with and coaching department managers involved in this process
- Collaborate with management and employees to identify and resolve issues that achieve a balance between business needs and employee needs, while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct workplace investigations into all HR issues including violence and harassment complaints
- Identify training needs and opportunities. Coordinate external and internal training initiatives, ensuring all employees are fully trained and retrained as needed.
- Collaborate with all departments to meet company goals and improve departmental operations and performance
- Support senior management in developing and implementing succession plans
- Participate in the annual review of the benefits plans to ensure they continue to be valid and cost efficient.
- Maintain complete and accurate employee and human resources records and files
- Develop, maintain, and update job descriptions as required
- Compile statistical reports and metrics concerning human resources related data such as turnover, absenteeism, wage surveys etc.
- Ensure legal compliance of both provincial and federal regulations and applicable employment laws relating to employment standards, updating policies and procedures as required
- Be an active member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and participate in inspections as needed.
- Oversee leave entitlements for all staff. Review and track leave entitlements for managers and supervisors and get appropriate approvals for requested leave time as necessary.
- Assist Massage Therapist Manager in their recruitment of new Independently Contracted Service Providers including Registered Massage Therapists and Massage Technicians
- Assist as needed with all contract renewals
- Other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications / Job Requirements:
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation required
- University bachelor’s degree or College diploma in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- Minimum of 3, but preferably 5+ years of proven leadership experience in Human Resources Management, ideally within the Hospitality / Tourism industry
- Sound knowledge of both Provincial and Federal Employment Laws and Regulations; including Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health & Safety Act
- An excellent relationship builder, confident in working with other departments and leaders as a part of a team that works hard, supports each other, and has fun along the way!
- Highly organized, results-oriented individual with the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities, and ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
- Effective problem solver who takes ownership of important issues and challenges, with the ability to get to the root cause, then collaborate to make effective business decisions
- Computer proficient with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel & Teams
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and issues with tact and diplomacy
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiastic and friendly, with a demonstrated client-service orientation
