Why Scandinave Spa is my digital detox

Meditation has always been a challenge for me. No matter how hard I try, distractions win—phones buzz, thoughts race, and life gets in the way. That’s why the spa has become my version of mindfulness. It’s where I go to embrace silence, recharge, and reconnect with myself.

For many of my friends, the spa is about socializing—chatting in the hot tub, comparing sauna times, or sharing stories. For me, it’s the opposite. I go alone to hit pause. The moment I step into Scandinave Spa, I leave behind my to-do lists and endless notifications. I don’t follow a schedule, worry about anyone else, or even glance at the clock. I just listen—to the sound of the waterfall, to my breath, and to my body.

There’s a magic to thermotherapy and silence that transforms my overactive mind. After one or two cycles, the buzzing thoughts fade. The stillness lets me reset, as the calm setting and soothing rituals release the tension I didn’t realize I was carrying.

When I’m with others, it’s harder to fully disconnect. Conversations, comments, and shared experiences are lovely, but they don’t allow for the same introspection. Alone, I can finally let go and focus inward, soaking up the benefits of quiet reflection.

At home, it’s nearly impossible to find this kind of peace. There’s always a ping, a task, or a noise pulling me back to reality. But at the spa, the silence feels intentional and restorative. It’s the kind of quiet that lets you breathe deeply, slow down, and truly be present.

The results speak for themselves. When I leave, I’m clear-headed, energized, and productive. Moments of unproductivity can lead to greater productivity.

Going to the spa alone might seem intimidating to some, but it’s a gift you can give yourself. In that silence, you’ll discover a tranquility that’s hard to find anywhere else.
