Black FridayWhen friends get together it’s inevitable that there will be a buzz, and lots of it. This is especially true now that our lives have become busier and we don’t have the opportunities to catch up as often. We at Scandinave Spa love that groups of friends have made our spa the destination for their getaways. Sometimes groups are surprised when they realize how important silence is to the Scandinave Spa experience. Guests are encouraged to respect others and avoid speaking too much during their visit, and when necessary to speak in a soft quiet spa voice.
We understand that the primary focus of a friend’s getaway is catching up with one another, and we don’t want our expectations of silence to deter you from visiting Scandinave Spa. So we’ve decided to create a list of places and activities for you and your friends to enjoy before and after your spa visit, where you can increase the social volume. Then during your time at Scandinave Spa, think of your visit as time to catch up with the most important person in your life, you.
Pre-Spa Places to Let Loose:
Before visiting Scandinave Spa get out your chitter chatter with these very social and exciting activities. By the time you arrive at the spa, you will be ready for some quiet time.
Scenic Caves – Scream till your voice hurts as you zip down Scenic Caves’ Thunderbird Twin Zip Line. This half mile zip line (2550 feet long) will get your adrenaline going as you fly down the escarpment to the valley below.
The Cheese Gallery – If you’re like most people, you love cheese. The Cheese Gallery in Thornbury is the perfect place to indulge and catch up. Sit at the cheese bar with your friends and enjoy a sampling of their extensive selection of fine cheese and treats.
Timber Challenge High Ropes – Cheer on your friends to complete the challenging ropes course at Blue Mountain Resort. The Timber Challenge High Ropes will test your strength and your group’s ability to work together as a team to navigate and complete the course. After finishing the course, you will need a good quiet soak in the Baths.
Post-Spa Hot Spots:
After your visit to Scandinave Spa, it’s time for you and your friends to speak easy. Consider sampling some delicious spirits from the area’s local producers. Grey County was once a hotspot for bootleggers during Prohibition and now it has become a breeding ground for craft breweries, VQA wineries and cideries.
Thornbury Village Cider House & Brewery – Recently open to the public, the Thornbury Village Cider House offers tastings of their famous Thornbury Premium Cider and their other ciders on tap. Visit with your friends and enjoy a flight of these award-winning ciders.
Northwinds Brewhouse – This fun open concept brewery and restaurant is the perfect place to get together with friends. Grab a bite to eat and sample a fine selection of beer, which is produced on site using fresh local ingredients. Every dish in the restaurant has been created to compliment a beer. Watch for the new Northwinds location opening soon in Blue Mountain Village.
Georgian Hills Winery – Book a wine tour and group tasting with Georgian Hills Winery. Your crew will enjoy four wines paired with a cheese and charcuterie board. This is a great way to find out who in your group are the wine connoisseurs. In the summer, enjoy a glass on their beautiful outdoor patio.
Side Launch Brewing Company – Having just opened its doors in 2014, Side Launch Brewing Company has established itself in Collingwood and was named the Canadian Brewery of the Year by the Canadian Brewing Awards. Stop into the tasting room with your squad to sample their delicious brews. Tours are available on weekends.
The Collingwood Brewery – Cheers to great company, as you and your friends enjoy a beer in the Collingwood Brewery taproom. You will have a front row seat to all the brew house action and can sample several of their flagship beers. Tours available.
Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery – Enjoy a wine tasting with friends while overlooking the crystal blue water of Georgian Bay at Coffin Ridge. Choose your favourite wine and retreat to one of their tables to share a vintner’s plate with friends made up of local artisanal wines paired with their vintner’s plate of breads and cheeses.
Do not be scared off by the commitment to silence as part of the Scandinavian Baths activity. There are a ton of opportunities to get wild in the Collingwood and Blue Mountain area before or after your visit to the Spa. Cheers!
